"The conforntation involved about 300 people"

Don't they have spellcheckers at the Associated Press?

Topic drift: how is it that Rage Against the Machine says stuff like "Smash the control image - smash the control machine"... yet aren't they on the Sony record label???

"Smash the control machine! This message brought to you by... Sony."

The LA Times has a better story about the incident, but your first stop for d2kla news should be the indymedia site.

I was a witness to a lot of what went down yesterday, if you have any questions. I'm actually at the shadow convention right now, stopping by for a few minutes on my way to the IMC. Regarding the aftermath of the Rage Against the Machine concert, there were a handful of fans (not necessarily "protestors") who climbed the fence and said some unflattering things to the police (perhaps threw some things as well). The police response, however, was way out of proportion to the threat, basically firing plastic bullets into a crowd of thousands of people who were already in the process of dispersing. For whatever reason, the police basically lcame across as trying to cause a mini-riot. Merely arresting the "trouble-makers" seemed to me like a much easier solution, but apparently not to the police, who perhaps wanted to test out all their new toys.
There was also a direct action yesterday morning that went fairly well...more later.

this article is titled: "protesters clash with police."

what is the difference between that and the title: "police clash with protesters?" (which is pretty much what it sounds like happened, to me).
