Wisconsin strip club owner discovers art. A Milwaukee Common Council committee last week agreed to designate Club Paradise, a strip club in Walker's Point, as a "Center for the Visual and Performing Arts" based on the art collection displayed there. This would allow the club to admit underage customers.

I know that I would have loved to go to a strip club when I was 15! Yeah baby!!

This is simply great.

To the owner of the club: a collection which doesn't grow is a dead collection. Keep on purchasing art!

Me too, eas98. The desire is gone now, but in high school, breeding ground for errant hormones... I bet their business doubles in the first week. At least.

"Underage" in this case means under the 21 drinking age, not being a minor. They're not gonna get the high-school sophomore crowd.

Also, the dry-under-21 strip club concept is not that unusual. There are some in outlying areas around here. I think the difference is that, due to different ordinances, this would be the first one in the city itself.

First, they're restricting it to 18 and up. I do not see the problem. You can dance at 18, I bounced in a strip club when I was 18. Neither I nor similarly aged dancers were allowed to drink, but we could work there.

I do have an issue about naming a place Center for the Visual and Performing Arts based on a couple of paintings however.

I don't know if you read the article you linked to Durwood, but it's dated October 13th and only says that a portion of the council voted to approve it. The council itself can still vote against it, or send it back for further review.

Milwaukee is all about the arts: not far from the old location of the Performing Arts Center is... (get ready for it) Art's Performing Center.

Sorry all you underage folks, since I posted this article this morning the council committee reversed itself and voted to rescind the designation. You'll have to go to the museum to look at "art" for the time being. Read all the details:

The way I see it, if you go to a strip club at 15, you're a healthy young man. If you keep going after, say, 21, your a perv and need help.
Age restrictions on strip clubs, porn, etc., are bass-ackwards.
