The Buying of the President. A look at the special interests who are bankrolling Bush and his Democratic rivals.
halliburton (at the very least a big time contributer to the bush/cheney junta) continues their law breaking by using an offshore "susidiary" (mailbox) to do business with iran and syria violating federal law. is anyone of sick of halliburton and cheney yet?

all right. point taken. nuff said.
it all fits together like some sort horribly mishapen game of jenga gone wrong ... where the losers are: american armed service people, iraqi civilians, us taxpayers to name a few.

The problem with opensecrets and the other usual methods for calculating this is that they're simply goofy. If I work for Enron in any capacity whatsoever and my wife writes a check to the local Democratic campaign, that counts in their methods as a check from Enron.
They should be much, much clearer about exactly who is contributing what.

It's interesting that both Enron and Vinson & Elkins were in Bush's top ten list as indicated in the pdf, with a $1MM between them.

No. Some people who work for the UN in one capacity or another collectively donated a total of $3500 to Clark.
Which is still actually too strong. Some people who work for the UN, or people who have family members who work for the UN, donated a total of $3500 to Clark.
Which is why most of the numbers don't mean much.

slightly off-topic - thinking about the president and the state of the union speech this eve - i am again reminded that bush and the people he surrounds himself with (or cheney ... or whoever runs the clowny show) are absolute idiots.
how do you have some of the best terror related/good for the planet and those of us who don't really want to experience nuclear holocaust news happen during your watch - and neglect to take some credit for it? warranted or not?
republicans = people who think their president and their speech writers are smarter than they are ...
