All We Hear is Radio Gaza. For the first time, Palestinians have taken to English language radio programs produced in the occupied territories. The show has its bias, of course, but all news does, of course.

Whoa, Mayor Curley, your response is a bit over-the-top. I mean, "occupied territories" is the usual term for Gaza and the West Bank in international usage. It's not like saying Amerikkka or something like that. Most people on the "rational left" would use the term "occupied territories". I mean, one could say "Yesha" if one was Israeli.
Basically, that's an odd point to make, because I can think of a lot of "loony left" terms, and "occupied territories" is not only in that vocabulary. It's definitely ensconced in the leftist and centrist vocabularies of the rest of the world, if not the US.

"Occupied territories" is the designation used by the moonbats in the U.S. Department of State (as in here, under government).

Anyway, it was probably a spur of the moment thing. Even if it was the same viewpoint, I'm sure Mayor Curley would not have phrased it so harshly most of the time.
But anyway, I think (note that it is only my interpretation, and is subject to the Mayor posting later in the thread) that he meant that people like the International Solidarity Movement use terms like the "occupied territories". He disagrees with them, and thus with the term.

Hmm, I suppose Israel prefers that term. I lived in Jerusalem for five years, and usually the term among Israelis and Israeli media was Judea and Samaria (shortened to Yesha). So, you either hear the aforementioned or "occupied territories", depending on the source.
Anyway, I think they should find a Palestinian who is a native speaker of English. There are enough about. It would sound better to the native Anglophones it is targeting. I know several. IBA has very good English-speakers in their English section. For some reason I often feel like tuning out when Israeli-accented or Arabic-accented people (the locals :-) ) speak about "the situation". I know it sounds horrible, but I'm only talking about in English.
