comic artists, sharpen your pencils

Strip Fight! has nothing to do with clothes and everything to do with comics. Inspired by Songfight.org (mefi post), Strip Fight was created as a place for comic strip artists to flex their skills.

From the site: Each week a different set of criteria will be posted. Artist have until the posted deadline to submit a comic that follows these criteria. This can include, but is not limited to, a phrase, object, setting, concept, or even an entire script. The comics will then be posted online for a one week voting period, where visitors can vote on which comic they think is the best.

"Strip Fight"

I can think of two things wrong with that title. Or if not "wrong," at least deceptive.

Excellent. As a regular songfighter, I can vouch for this sweatshop concept really kicking the creative juices into high gear.

Lots of good work will come of this.

Cool. One of the comic artists who has won a few Strip Fights is my friend's brother, Brian Fukushima. One of my favourites.

I'm a huge fan of Brian Fukushima. I remember reading his comics in the UVic campus paper, The Martlet, and it was one of the few reasons I picked up the paper every Thursday. I was quite pleased when I came upon his website a few months ago. He's one of the web comic creators that make me want to do a strip of my own, but I never seem to be able to get myself to sit down and do it. Maybe a strip fight would motivate me.

I'd seen the link before (from Brian's site), but thanks for posting it-- the more people who get involved and interested, the better the fights will be, I hope.

Glad that everyone enjoyed the site. All of the artists put in a lot of work each week, so it's nice for them to get positive feedback like this.

danny the boy: Sorry, you felt decieved. Perhaps this other Strip Fight will be closer to what you are looking for (Warning: NSFW).
