Personally, I didn't think Asimo had HOF numbers. Sure, he had a couple of good years, but I'd have wanted a bit more production from him before he got recognized.

Astroboy, on the other hand, is way overdue. Good on the committee for finally recognizing his massive contributions and prodigious output, even deep into his dotage, where other robots have been long retired.

Astroboy is totally the Nolan Ryan of Robots.

I was upset about R2D2 not being selected until I read the article and found out that he was already in.

And Robby was way overdue

I wonder why they didn't induct Aibo or Roomba?
Thanks for the links!

what about data? i think he's a little more inspiriational than C3P0. isn't he essentially a quantum computer? the "positronic" brain and all that?

Honestly... what the HAL!! Doesn't it bother anyone that the jury is composed entirely of humans? Why are the very objects of this commemoration completely disenfranchised!? At least get a cyborg, or a fembot in there to represent, dammit!

Bender deserves some votes, but I am so writing in Marvin and Twiki next year.

HAL 9000 has already been inducted.

Perfect analogy, chicob, considering I'm an almost-lifelong fan of both.

Of course, the hype for the "I, Robot" is tied into this event (at least it wasn't "Stepford Wives"). So Marvin's best chance at induction would be if the "Hitchhiker" movie gets a similar tie-in when it's released.

But who could forget the greatest technological advancement in counter-intelligence in the 1960's?
Hymie!
Dick Gautier was the Patrick Warburton of his generation.

You'll know the Robot Hall of Fame has outlived its usefulness if it ever nominates this.

I though Robot Hall sold mens clothing, circa 1965.
