Amazon.com apologizes for random price test... Yeah, but look how long it took them to do it. "Oh, um, now that we've covered our costs for R&D we can end the test and apologize. That's the ticket!"

The debacle made the front cover of the Washington Post yesterday (nice timely job there) and was picked up by NPR and no doubt other services as well. That's why you're hearing about this now.

its still a piss poor showing by the media. they accept bezos "explanation" without question. i want to know:
1) what were they testing
2) what was the methodology? how were the recipients and size of discounts chosen?
3) what were the test results?
4) what did they hope to learn, and what did they actually learn from this "test"?
it sucks that the media has not asked these questions.
