The Extreme Gravity Racing Series: featuring cars from Porsche, Volvo, and mazda among others. Yeah, it's basically soap box derby racing for adults. [via red ferret]

That Volvo entry looks nice.

Oooo... they not only look like fun, but they're sexy machines too. Interesting how everyone seems to have gone for a different technique.

I'm plain disappointed by the Bentley racer, even if I do get an unnatural ammount of pleasure out of it's name.

This makes me want to build a pinewood derby car.

When first I read this, I imagined that a bunch of folks got together with their normal cars and just rolled them down the hill in neutral. You know, Nissans and Volvos and whatnot.

Silly me.

Though that would be cool, codger, especially with other people's cars.

I'd love to see a soapbox derby between these guys and the folks at MIT. (I suspect there's some crossover from one to the other.) That'd be friggin' epic.

I'm not sure this is extreme enough. Couldn't they have called it "Xtreme"?

"The next race" location is an area full of technological businesses.

It's fun, driving in neutral. I used to live near the real Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio and got to roll around all over there and the surrounding environs (great coasting in the Cuyahoga River valley, too), though I never tried the Downs. I bet it would be fun, though.

Cool, but will it beat a 119 Lotus ?

Well I imagined there was going to be more gravity.
