Lest We Forget
Today we should look back at how a shift in priorities played a critical role in the attacks of 9/11. Whatever your political leanings there are certain facts that should not be ignored. I present these and ask you to present other relevant facts.

An excerpt from a book? Wow. Powerful stuff from the Saturday Night Live comedian. I think I'll dig up a Dennis Miller rant and make a shitty FPP out of it.

Oh, wait, I don't have to, I'm not in panic mode.

The mention of thwarting a 1996 plot caught my eye. In 1995 Phillipine police discovered a cell planning to crash hijacked airliners into the CIA. They alerted the FBI who investigated the named flight schools.

"The FBI checked four flight schools named in the documents, U.S. law enforcement officials say, but found no evidence of any terrorist attacks.

Still, from that 1995 Philippine cell, three men were convicted in America for plotting to blow up a number of U.S. airliners in Asia: Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind behind the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; Abdul Hakim Murad, the pilot, who trained in four U.S. schools, and Wali Khan Amin Shah, who fought with Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. David Dark, distilled:

Dennis Miller says stupid things. Dennis Miller is a comedian.

Al Franken is a comedian.

Therefore, anything Al Franken writes is stupid.

Damn the Republicans for using 9/11 for political gain! Damn them all to hell!

Funny, XQWHYNER, I don't see your grown-up opinion and can't find the grown-up discussion. Maybe it's somewhere near the word "poopyhead", but . . . no, are you sure it's in this thread? Also, who said, "being desperate?" For future reference, you only need to use quotes when you are quoting someone directly. I'm sure you'll cover that next semester.

I have only one point: this is the worst thread I've ever seen, even calculating in nofundy's handicap. Don't make an ass of yourself defending a steaming pile of shit because it came from a liberal.

So destroy it, David. Go on, go out there and dig up the info that says Franken is wrong. It's gotta be easy, if this is one of the worst posts you've ever seen. nofundy even seems open to it, since he asked if you'd post the information you had.

Or, alternatively, just complain about it without addressing Franken's point, and convince no one.

Well, I *am* pretty stupid, nobody's arguing with you on that one. But I was just wondering why, given MeFi's outrage and resentment about the fact that the Republicans milk 9/11 to no end, is it still all right to post a politicized, partisan piece that milks 9/11 *on* 9/11. Don't take that to be a denial of certain anti-terrorism related incompetencies of this administration.

I have to admit, when I saw that this was from al franken's new book, I groaned a little bit. you have to hit these dudes with pundits they haven't had a chance to drag through the mud yet or otherwise they'll just be like, "who said it? whoops! for a second there, I almost read that!"
