"Hey, darling. Love you. Need your vote." Politics without presidents: a soulful portrait of former DC mayor Marion Barry. I was really impressed by the dog in the left-hand corner of the picture. (registration required)

I think that dog could be Triumph, in the flesh.

There are two schools of thought about how anyone could reelect an incompetent crackhead.

WTF Mate?

He is a slippery weasel, but I like him

He may have fucked up at everything that was within his power to effect, but he could still manage to convince plenty of brothers that he was helping them while doing it.

We're a country of second, third, fourth, and fifth chances. Better a reformed crackhead getting elected to city council than an unreformed daddy's boy getting elected president.

blasdelf, that is pretty funny. I met him a couple of times when I lived in DC and now I fit into the latter category, grudgingly. Still wouldn't vote for him, though!

I just saw him respond to his critics with a nonchalant "Go to hell" on local news. That'll either win it for him or flush his whole campaign down the toilet.
