ACCIDENTAL DEATH ON DUTY

BitTorrent of Excel Saga episode 1. It is funny. I urge you to watch it. Preferably drunk. There is a DVD you can buy. The guy with the afro is the animator.

It's definitely one of the most hilarious and, well, spastic anime series out there. If you like it also check out "Puny Puny Poemy", which is by the same studio.

Heh, I had no idea... I'll have to give the show another try just for that.

The animator Shinichi Watanabe ("Nabeshin") is dedicated throughout to making himself look like God and making the original manga artist Koshi Rikudo look like a dickhead.

if the torrent saves with a .php at the end of it, rename without the .php

Dammit, I keep checking, and Netflix STILL doesn't have any Excel Saga DVDs. Why must you deny me enjoyment, Netflix?!

In other news, I just saw Oldboy.
Jesus fucking Christ.

HAIL IL PALLAZO!

(-That said, a bit torrent lof copyrighted material as the lead link is probably not something Matt's going to smile upon, and is well, kinda weak.)

On preview to emptybowl: Greencine has 'em. I'm amazed Netflix doesn't carry this, though. It's a pretty popular anime.

Ahh....good ol' anime club at college. Saw the entire series (from DVD, if I remember correctly), minus one or two episodes, while I was in school--it's disturbingly zany, and yea, pretty funny. It gets a bit old after a while, but you keep watching just to see what heights they'll take it to :D

Sorry to say it, but is this something you need to own a TV to know about? Cos I read the Amazon page, and I still have no idea what this is about, other than being some anime show.

Is that a direct link to a BT file? Bad.
posted by anathema at 8:23 AM on October 26, 2004

anathema, do you really think the makers don't want people to see the first episode of their TV show, the whole of which is currently out on DVD? People who perhaps don't watch anime generally (like myself)?

I try not to assume what any authors' hope for the distribution of their works might be. Moreover, it's not really the "makers" I would be worried about, but the rights holders. Anyway, do whatcha like. Matt will probably kill it regardless.

As of now it's a direct link to the lokitorrent front page (they must not like people deeplinking). What's this amazing-ass video called?
posted by Tlogmer at 9:03 AM on October 26, 2004

The only difference between this and the Jon-Stewart-on-CNN torrent link we had, is that I'm effectively advertising a product. Matt should be ok with that.

Tlogmer: this work?

If you can hook up a copy of GTO somwheres, it's not nearly as goofy and fan-service-y as Excel Saga, but it's my fave anime comedy.

"somewheres"

spell check don't work when you're intentionally mispellzin

it's just too painful for me to watch. i think it just epitomizes everything i hate about anime, the girls are constantly screeching and the dog thing is constantly chirping and everyone's just screaming and no one ever shuts up

Excel Saga can also be seen on The Anime Network.

jimmy: actually that's kinda the point of Excel Saga, which is really a satire of anime series.

Just wait until the Super Milk-Chan show hits.

It's already here.
But we're probably never getting Ebichu (a lil NSFW).
