Lawsuit in 3, 2, 1...

w00t! I've been waiting for this. As an insomniac who listens to the radio in bed with earphones so as not to wake my husband, this will be a huge improvement in my quality of life.

Of course, it won't be a trademark lawsuit. As you can see Delphi Technologies, Inc has a registrered trademark specifically for "Portable radios". Neuros Audio, LLC has it only for "Radios", amongst other specific goods and services.

Can't wait. I've been a happy XM customer since the month after they went "live".

Well worth the measly $9.95/mo.

I expect to buy one of these the day it is available. I will pre-order if given the opportunity. That's how strongly I support XM and enjoy their service.

So...wonder when the Sirius equivalent is coming out?

I'll be joining the ranks soon -- a walkman verson would be sweet. Local radios is nothing more than one droning GOP Squawkfest here in Nebraska.

I was agonizing between XM and Sirius and did an Excel spreadsheet(*) comparing their programming head-to-head and found little to distinguish them beyond college v pro football coverage. It finally came down to ClearChannel ties. Just can't get over that hump, since they're the guys I'm running away from. I think Sirius is probably bringing up the rear -- but I suspect they will be the ones to bank on. XM already looks like they're emphasizing a pay-for-view angle that sort of pisses me off. I really don't want to see a multi-tiered subscription plan for frickin' "radio" (though I suppose that's inevitable). Both stations are missing foreign language stations (save Spanish) which is kind of a bummer. And where is Deutsche Welle? Qito Equador? Tel Aviv? Moscow Radio? Seems like it'd be trivial to get an agreement to relay a shortwave signal through the geosynch satellites.

(*)email RavinDave@gmail.com if you want a copy of said spreadsheet.
