I had the opportunity yesterday to hear and meet Sr. Helen Prejean, the woman who wrote the book and was portrayed in the movie by Susan Sarandon. She is truly a remarkable woman, not just because of the work that she does with and for people on death row, but because she recognizes the fundamental truth that for there to be peace and justice, we must reach out to all people, including offenders, victims, and the families of both. She's also a remarkably friendly person.If you feel so inclined, visit her website, and sign a petition calling for a suspension of executions. Also, be nice to each other. :-)
