I've been visiting Watch Me Turn 30 for a while now. I guess it's a similar kind of thing (though I like it better than this one). Holly is taking a picture of herself each day in her 29th year. It's interesting to start at the beginning and watch how she gets better and better at finding interesting ways to photograph herself. I guess it's one of those if you practice something enough, you get good at it kinds of things. She's certainly way past 40 images at this point.

I liked it, so did my roommate. Lots of the pictures are really good, it's a cool idea. But we're both sixth-year college senior layabouts, so what do we know?

I don't know. I think it's more like "I don't really know very much about myself and I'm trying to figure it out, and also I'm something of an exhibitionist and this is a pretty sane way to express that." Though that would be awkward to say three times in a row.

Who is that person? Why is the title "1001 Self Portraits" when there are only 40? What's taking so long to get to 1001 if that's the ultimate goal? How come the only self portrait that isn't above the shoulders a picture of her toes? Why was this posted?

Maybe not a total loss, though. This site was a little underwhelming but it was at least pretty.

That mid-air shot is great. So's the one with the guy wearing a towel (and only a towel!) super-hero style with eyeballs shooting fire - nay, concentrated evil in the form of magma - and making something go explody.

I only picked 40 because it was a nice round number. If I'd posted it tomorrow I would have said 41. Infuriating isn't it? I thought it was interesting that instead of posting lots of words about herself, she's posting lots of photos.
