I cannot recall where I first saw this, so hats off to the source, wherever you are (I'm also surprised this hasn't been 'round before, I did the customary searches, etc).

Multiply the number of daily TV deaths by the number of people owning TV sets and subtract that number from the population. Most nations would disappear on a daily basis.


Somewhat unfair. Multiply the number of people shown on TV by the number of people owning TV sets and the worlds population would expand exponentially on a daily basis. Certainly enough to offset the fictional deaths.
