dhoyt...that live archive is...dear god...it's beautiful.

Sketches of Winkle/
Keep little humans locked up in a cage

...has been stuck in my head for weeks. Now, perhaps, I can replace these cursed lyrics with fresh Ween.

All hail the almighty Ween... after listening to these tracks for a couple of hours, I'll be forced to mail them an entire crate full of canned goods.

I am the stallion, mane.

Great!! Thank you!! A little bassy, but it's all good...
I burned these and am blastig it right now, much to the dismay of my neighbors.

We're the freaky ones on the block, tho..

They'll get over it.

(this is GOOD!!)

You know, I just discovered that there was more to Ween than "Push the Little Daisies" this month. I just bought "The Mollusk" and absolutely love it. I can't wait to dive into more of these tracks. Awesome!

Thank you dhoyt. You rock. As does ween.

Oh, and by the way, unfortunately it seems now that they're on a tour hiatus due to a problem within the band. Let's hope everything turns out ok.

Ween is easily the greatest band in the history of the world.

Thanks for this great post.

I decided while making breakfast today that White Pepper is Ween's best album, just edging out Chocolate and Cheese.

dhoyt is teh man.

And my favorite drunken quote from college? Obviously:

"Fuck it! Let's get high and listen to Ween!"

A few years back, a friend of my girlfriend asked her if she'd like to go see a Ween show. My g/f, not knowing anything about the band, but trusting her friend's judgement, decided to go. Suffice it to say she wasn't expecting a four-hour show. That's a whole lotta Ween for anyone who hadn't even heard "Push The Little Daisies". As for me, I'll be downloading some of this when I get home from work, but Ween are the ultimate love 'em or hate 'em band...I'm starting to develop a serious appreciation for them, but even I find a good chunk of their output unlistenable.

I'm also worried about their tour hiatus. My friends and I had tickets for one of the shows they had scheduled, and they called it off only a few days beforehand. I think I've seen them 8 times, and every time they were fantastic. They've only gotten better, and I think Quebec deserves a good listenin' to for those of you who haven't checked it out much.

I couldn't possibly choose my favorite album of theirs, but as for playing their songs on my guitar, 12 Golden Country Greats is probably the most fun. I still love God Ween Satan though.

Boognish is rising!!!

Oh, I almost forgot... if you haven't seen the live DVD they have out... get it. It's got great sound and even great camerawork. Well worth every penny.

that archive is unbelievable. also, the fact that a comprehensive ween guitar tab archive exists blows my mind twice. if only I had had that to work with instead of guitar world's deep cuts.

Ween's keyboardist, Glen lives in the Philly area. I've had the pleasure of jamming with him on many occasions as he sits in with some local blues talent when not touring (as well as the myriad of studio work he does). Super nice guy and obviously, an amazing keyboardist. As he tells me, apparently the cancellation was a bit of a surprise to the band too (although the "personal issues" were not). My understanding is the tour was not cancelled because someone went into rehab but cancelled in the hopes someone would go. As of now, there has been no talk about possible future dates or recording of any kind.

Although he was optimistic, Glen was careful to point out that things could go any which way right now.

Wow man. That doesn't sound too good. A friend of mine had come to the conclusion it was Gene, and the substance was heroin. Whatever the problem is, I hope they can overcome it. It would be a shame to see them break up now, when they're really getting to be spectacular, both live and in the studio.

Oh, and next time you see Glen, tell him he kicks ass, and when I first saw them bust into "All Of My Love" I damn near shit my pants. There would be a void without him on the stage now.
