Seasame Street Photo Project

There aren't very many there yet, and the signs are illegible for all but the 3rd set of photos, but I still really like the idea behind These are the People in my Neighborhood. You walk around your neighborhood and take pictures of people holding signs with the lyrics from Sesame Street. Very interesting and probably a good way to actually meet your neighbors. via
Why would I want my pleasant, quiet neighbors to think I'm some aging, retro-obsessed hipster who creepily wants to photograph them and put it on the Internet?
In my case, it would in fact be true.....

I am neither retro-obsessed nor hip, but I like the pre-Elmo Sesame Street! I even have a book from the first season (I was two) and Oscar the Grouch was orange. Creepy.

This concept sounded dopey but the pictures unaccountably really moved me.
I guess I must be an aging retro-obsessed hipster. And proud, damnit.

Hey, at least they didn't make them re-enact Ernie's "Rubber Ducky" song...
Moral of the story: I liked it. ;)

The pictures were, indeed, very nice--makes me wish that were my neighborhood. Were I to wander within walking distance of my front door and take pictures of people with signs, it wouldn't be such a lovely bouquet. That is, of course, assuming I manage to take the pictures and get back home in one piece.

I have to agree with the Mayor. I'm just not sure that the internet needs another photographic variations on a dullish theme site (not that this will stop 200 appearing in the time it takes me to type this).
I'm afraid I'm going to exercise my right to find this not very interesting.
