Yes, please delete. This was for mouthbreathers the first time around.

Well I hadn't seen it. Wow! That took some serious balls on her part. Or guts. Whatever.

It doesn't take balls to have guts. ;) Looks like she got her head/hair caught in it though. Ow.

zardoz, If you follow the link to the comments on the original post you'll see that the basic consensus is that this is fake.

Wow. That's an incredibly unnecessary, rude and mean thing to say. In one fell swoop, you've managed to insult both the person who posted it and all the people who posted in the original thread.

But isn't that becoming par for the course of MetaFilter these days? This marginalization of thoughts? That if User A thinks it is stupid then by all rights any user that thinks it is funny is dumber than User A?

I swear, this is a trend I've been seeing happening since Clinton's second term with increasing frequency. This idea of polite discourse just seems to be going away and in it's place is a poop-slinging fest of zealots standing on the other side of the playground from each other. We can't disagree anymore, we have to demonize those with dissenting ideas.

Sad thing is, I am guiltier than most of this same trend. But I've been self loathing for so long I scarcely notice anymore.

It's not only a fake, but it's a promo for a movie.
posted by Plutor at 6:02 AM on January 28, 2005

Reading more, it's not a movie, but a fake movie ad that really ends up being a "turn off your cell phones" message. This shit is too deep for me. What's wrong with just telling people to turn off their damn cell phones?

jacquilynne, I'm just guessing here, but I'll bet the reason people are pissed off is because this is just the latest in the huge and annoying string of fake movies made to generate revenue for corporations by virally marketing to blogs and message boards. So, yeah, we're getting played for suckers here. They do this because it's free advertising.

It's like somehow getting tricked into putting Nike stickers all over your stuff. Annoying.

what the heck is a mouthbreather anyway?

dabitch... good question... hard to answer... picture beevis and butthead, picture the two guys in the Dodge truck commercial ("yeah, its got a Hemi"), picture all the jerks you see hanging around with no clear sense of employment, relationship, or reason for taking up room on the earth... and picture them all with a stupid look on their faces, mouth open.. (thus the term mouth breathers)

Please note I have avoided any reference to famous political figures in this description...

They do this because it's free advertising.

But what I don't understand is what it is advertising. After watching that [unimpressive] video of the girl being tossed through a basketball hoop...what product or service am I supposed to get excited about? Basketball nets? Sony-brand tossable girls? What is the point of this advertising if no one has any idea what it is about (or you have to do a deep-level of research to even have a vague idea what it is about). Sure we're talking about it...but, we're really just talking about how we have no idea what it is advertising.

But yes, it is annoying...I just don't get it.
