At midnight tonight, the cops will walk and ride horses in a line several blocks wide, with a parade of cleaning machines following them. They will sweep all the people out of the french quarter and Mardi Gras will end.

What a thankless task, walking about at Mardi Gras with a sign condemning just about everybody present to eternal hellfire.

There's a special part of Heaven reserved for the "Repent!" crowd. It is a long, long, long way away from anyone else. They get to enjoy spending eternity preaching at... themselves.

special note: boobs for beads is almost strictly a bourbon street thing. locals tend to avoid bourbon like the plague. if any of you come down for mardi gras in the future, i recommend catching the parades on st. charles or elsewhere in uptown, then heading over to frenchman street in the marigny for late night partying. you'll avoid the crowds (and the filth, for the morst part) and have a great time. sorry, though, you probably won't see people flashing for beads.
