Biojewelry : Now you and your betrothed can exhange ring made of bone. Your own bone. I, for one, welcome the day when consumer biotech makes our lives.....weirder. (Some pics not safe for the squeamish.)

bone jewelry: considering it was state of the art a few thousand years ago, i guess you could call this retro. nice find.

moonbird: that was my initial thought as well, but what they're actually trying to do is grow bone tissue in the desired shape, rather than carve bones in the desired shape. That's a fascinating (if entirely expensive and unnecessary) twist.

When the going gets weird, the weird grow jewelry from cloned bits of themselves to give as gifts.

One day it will be possible to order all your clothing and accoutrements from materials cloned from your own DNA. Can't you see the ads now? "Nothing should touch you but you!"

And then of course come the RealDoll "You" models, For the Extreme AutoerotistTM.

What they need to do is build rings that are part your bone and part your spouse's bone, so she can be bone of your bone.

Rings are nothin'. I want a bone-grown cellphone.

BoneFone! (I had one of these!)

tippiedog: I had one also. I saved my money for months. It was kind of a let down when I finally got it. Hot to wear. Not very loud. Poor battery life.

This is fantastic. I'm going to show it to my fiancee when she wakes up.

The ring is inscribed "Ab Intra" ("from within").

Um... aren't they forgetting something? The bone tissue's coming from teeth. It's not from "within" the body at all. So much for symbolism.
