MeFied? I got in once, but can't get back in at the moment.

of course, it has been on delicious lately, so maybe all those other websites have something to do with the traffic ...

At any rate, this seems like the right place to post another link I've been saving because it just didn't seem fpp-worthy on its own: The Not Al Page, the archive of songs erroneously attributed to Weird Al Yankovic, but which he didn't actually write or perform.

(and I mention it here because songs erroneously attributed to "DrDemento" are an even bigger bane on P2P networks, and if this site can help to properly identify them, well then, that's a good thing)

Boot to the head!

I *heart* Doctor Demento. Whimsical Will's summer movie summaries (Jurassic Park, Hey Phantom Menace, etc.) are the best.

The Doctor saved my juvenile soul. However, later soul saving tasks then passed to Uncle Floyd. All my idiosyncrasies are now explained.

a little over 2 years ago, i was going crazy trying to find this one song for my girlfriend at the time... i searched everywhere on the net for it... googled it, dogpile'd it--no stone was left unturned in our world wide web. i checked every legal music download store, p2p service, and online cd shop. US and foreign. i was able to find the song sans vocals, but never the real deal. after hours and hours of information sorting, i found the song would only be available to me from two sources--the original decades-old disney kids video and an archived version of a 1988 Dr. Demento show.

two years later, after having damn near forgotten the song and the ex who wanted it, i finally have it on my hard drive. i'll make sure to pass it along to her.

My Barracuda was in the shop,
So I was in a rented Stingray and it was overheating.
I pulled into a Shell station, they said I'd blown a seal.
I said fix the damn thing and leave my private life out of it.

"There are too many people accessing the Web site at this time."

I weep!

I miss the Dr. D show so much. I listened for years, with the radio under the covers while my parents thought I was sleeping.

I listened religiously when he was on KPPC-FM out of Pasadena. . . lost interest when that station went off the air and he got syndicated.

However, I still have *Pico and Sepulveda* (Felix Figueroa) brainfarts to this day.

Lisa: Bart, your mortal enemy's on the radio!
[Bart turns on the radio]
Dr. Demento: It's time for more deeeeeeee-mentia, with Dr. Demento!
[Bart yells and throws the radio out the window]

I think that says it all.

I first heard Spike Jones on Dr. Demento when I was in seventh grade. I was so awed, that I did a speech about Spike for my English class, introducing my classmates to "You Always Hurt The One You Love" and one of the band's serious instrumentals, "Minka." Also got my name read aloud on air after requesting another Jones song.

Ah, the highlight of my puberty...
