What a fantastic & meaningful project for high schoolers. I am inspired. I bet those kids had their minds blown by some of that stuff.

I hope they enjoy the zillion hits they're going to get too.

Gee, you mean there is something between the hudson river and the rocky mountains besides tumbleweeds and alligators?

Who'd a thunk it?

p.s. I grew up in Hattiesburg, MS.

Another guy I knew, Mark Mann, is on the same label as Afroman.

This is a fabulous post and a neat and useful school project! The project involved writers, actors, and artists too. Thanks, gimonica!

This is really wonderful. I wish someone would have made me do this in high school, but 1. I grew up in Kansas and 2. well, see number one. As is, I found out most of it in college. Thanks gimonca, great post.

I'm happy to see David Banner listed, as his album, "Mississippi: The Album", is entirely about how they do it different down in Mississippi--every song mentions the state about two dozen times. And you wouldn't like him when he's angry:

"I never really wanted a clothing line, but I was so pissed off that I was in Mississippi and I see every other state on front of shirts but I couldn't find Mississippi," BANNER says. "So I was fussin' in the store and the clerk said, 'why don't you make one?' So I did and they were in the 'Like A Pimp' video."

Oh how weird. I know Igor XA and didn't realize he was on Mefi, and also I'm going to college in Starkville. Last place I thought I'd see mentioned on the blue...
