Necessity has nothing to do with it. But I'm glad someone's dreaming up these things.

(pet rocks never made noise at all, emdog--they were really just rocks--stupidest fad ever)

The Harmonic Visualizer is better known as a harmonograph.

I like the mystery box. Objects that act like they have emotions are cool.

Harminium and mystery box, those I would like to own, or at least experience.
(Amber- I think emdog was making a joke. pet rocks [as a fad] died/croaked awhile back)

I want a mystery box. On my desk at work.

If it were manufactured to resemble Rincewind's Luggage, so much the better.

Too bad color vector displays, as in his Harmonic Visualizer (or Tempest. Ahh, Tempest), are no longer available. There is an alternative technology: take the cover off a speaker exposing the cone, put a little reflective mylar on the cone, and shine a laser at the mylar. ! ! ! LAZER FLOYD ! ! ! Thanks edge. Oh, and you too, IndigoJones.
