Camouflage Cell Towers hidden in trees, buildings, and crosses.

Thank goodness they're so realistic. The designers have clearly only seen trees from the windows of their car.

Heh. I remember seeing one of those along I-80 coming back from Lake Tahoe.

What I think is funny is not so much the idea of needing camouflage for the towers as the poor attempts at it. It's interesting how an antenna sticking out of a perfectly symmetrical tree brings a mild air of deceit.

...and crosses

This does seem like a minor heresy initially. But it's important to remember that many biblical scholars think that Christ himself emitted large amounts of microwave radiation. For instance, the apostle Thomas could only get four bars when he was in a line of sight with The Lord, and the "radioactive Jesus" theory would help explain the miracle of the Superheated Burritos and Mary Magdalene's brain tumor.

Just last night the vestry at my church voted to stop the process of putting in a cell tower on church property due to strong negative response from the neighborhood. During the process, we discovered that a huge number of churches had cell towers installed, mostly in the steeple (our steeple was too low, so we were putting in big white pole). We also discovered that our neighbors will turn out in droves to wax fearful about the supposedly cancerous effects of towers which they didn't realize were actually all around them already -- and were completely uninspired to get the ones already in place removed, but still didn't want ours in.

This one amuses me. It was behind a rather notorious nightclub called 'The Jungle.' Free advertising? Just follow the big fake tree for your big gay orgy...

There's a mission located almost perfectly centered on the grounds of Ft. Hunter-Liggett (Just south of King City, CA). That mission had put up a large cross on one of the neighboring hills years ago (still on FHL grounds).

The Army does a lot of communications equipment tests there and needed a strong relay tower some years ago. The mission didn't want to give up the hill, and it was the best spot around, so a compromise was reached. The cross was torn down and a relay tower in the shape of a cross was erected.

Now the station is jokingly called the Jesus Relay, and many young soldiers are told that FHL is so deeply in the middle-of-nowhere that it is needed in order to bring religion over the mountains.
