The problem with Beitter Lemons is though it tries hard to bridge the gap between Israelis and Arabs (Palestinians), the Israelis it uses are always from the Left and that has for some time--esp since Intifada II--not represented how most Israelis feel. But even with that in mind, there is usually a clash of ideas and opinions that keeps the two peoples apart, so imagine if they "debated" with mainline Israelis!

From the 2nd article: The illegal Israeli settlers [...] have always been the most dangerous and explosive aspect of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Well, maybe the most dangerous but certainly not the most explosive. ~wink~

Ah, bitterlemons. The Between Enemies of the information age. Perceptively, Postroad nails it. Worse, the mainstream of Israeli opinion has been moving steadily rightward since the start of the Second Intifada. Just as the opinion of the intellectuals never truly represents the will of the people this intelligent, humane, compassionate dialogue is representative of neither the man in the street in Ramallah nor of Jerusalem's new town.
