Remix the Beeb. Backstage is the BBC's new developer network, in beta (via boing boing).

Beat me to it! Some of the prototypes and ideas already look interesting.

Whitelabel: This could be the point at which the BBC stops being a merely a broadcaster, stops being merely a publisher, and starts being a tool and a resource for all of us to use.

A little OTT, perhaps, but this looks very promising.

Ah. I was just slagging them off for voting to strike, but this looks super-cool.

Damm - I hit preview and I see someone else beat me by just a few minutes.
It could be great. Let's hope people use it.

Backstage is a bloody great idea, and not before time. Well done to the management for allowing the idea to flourish, and I suppose thanks in part to Philip Graf and his infamous report and the Building Public Value report for re-focusing the Beeb on really providing public value.

Although I fear that much like a lot of the TV programmes produced for the Beeb these days - they'll find some of the best content is controlled by Indies, as such can't be opened up to the public without extra licensing deals (read: more money).
