The PHENIX (Pioneering High Energy Nuclear Interaction eXperiment) collaboration hopes to study a new state of matter, the quark-gluon plasma, which they think was present in the first microseconds after the Big Bang. And they have games!

An interesting concept related to this research: There's a theory that for a very short time after the big bang, everything was a liquid.

Those are the same guys. I should have mentioned that PHENIX is at the Brookhaven National Lab.

These are also the same guys who were may have created mini black holes while trying to re-produce the quark-gluon plasma.
