Hey! I know Judith Shaechter! She teaches at my very-soon-to-be-former college. I took one of her classes in the first semester of my freshman year. She's really very bright, energetic, cynical, and funny.

I love the captions:

Google search "tentacle porn" for more info on this theme. --js

Very cool. And with a sense of humour no less. Thanks for the link.

I discovered Ms Schaechter's work a few months ago, & am glad to see it mentioned here. I'd love to see these pieces in some warm, natural light one of these days.

"The uncut sheets of colored glass are really seductive, awesome, and unarguably lovely things. Naturally, the temptation to cut and damage all that pristine beauty is too much for me to resist."

I know how she feels. I react this way when I see antique glass in museums. So exquisitely beautiful, so tempting to see it break.

Her work is fantastic though and I think I might love her.

Amazing—I'd love to see this stuff in person. I imagine images on a computer screen don't do it justice.

Funny you should say that, Jon-o. The only reason I know about her is because a friend (a fibers major at uarts) had her for a teacher and showed this site to me. Small world.

The rest of the missioncreep site is pretty fantastic, and could easily warrant its own post.

The shapes and colours are interesting but I'm getting pretty tired of seeing this quasi-Marilyn Manson scary clown LETS KILL TV imagery everywhere.

deafmute, I probably know your friend in fibers, too. Philly is a very small town that happens to be a big city. Everyone knows everyone here.
