"because the rider steers the dog..."
Right up until the moment a cat/squirrel/car goes by, and then steering becomes moot...

Are you sure you have enough cats for that to matter? :)

Ha! A real cat sled.
"Dog mushers expressed dismay yesterday when a sled pulled by Siberian cats won the Atta Boy 300 Sled Dog Race in central Oregon. Rachel Tucker of Baker City, Ore., was allowed to enter the race with her 200-cat team as a publicity stunt. Apparently no one except Tucker expected her to win."

This looks:
1) Cool.
2) Like it's gonna end in tears.
I was once hit on my bike by a rottweiler chasing a squirrel. It knocked me on my ass and really hurt. My bike was messed up too. The owner collected his dog and got the hell out of there before I could even peel myself off the street.

When I watch them move, I keep expecting the people to put a foot down and run. And if I rode it I'd do that too. And pain would follow for all involved.

I'd rather ride a longboard/skateboard behind them, wakeboard style.

What about cats? Do they make a cat version?
I have been secretly working with the fish in my pond and soon my canoe will be running on KOI POWER! No more nasty paddling for me.

It doesn't surprise me that this might catch on among suburbanites. As for those dogs who might like it, well, how does one say "Uncle Tom" in Golden Retriever?
Actually though, it's not as bad as when people tie the leash to their bicycle's seat post.
