8th Wonder Are ebay auctions, getting better, weirder or what. Check this one out, it seems to be auctioning a promotion on 7 continents of the world, in 7 weeks, at 7 wonders of the world, with the possibility of becoming the 8th??? Quite fascinating really, check it out. Quite amusing pics..haha. and trivia which i dont really get about the number 7.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Laszlo is in new zealand, the lame ebay auction is from NZ, coincidence?

Am I comment #7 yet?

I was the eighth person to view that auction site.

I can't say, but I'm certain that one-link-to-eBay-auction MeFi FPPs are almost always lame.

(Not to mention this was put on eBay mere hours ago... how did you find it?)

my guess is that the numerological significance ties into the Time-Cube(tm)

Apparently YOU are not those among us who always have an ebay frame open...
I'm always searching for old butterfly knives. (if you have any, PLEASE email me)

Ebay is, you know, pretty popular.. I find crazy things all the time, and added this to my "watch" screen.

i think i have a new fetish for strange things on ebay, not that this is that strange, but there are actually people listing the strangest things, someones selling a chewing gum rapper for like 300 bucks. bit of a joke really, but i guess its a supply and demand thang for the crappier consumer items!!! hehe

balisong, what is a butterfly knife? ill keep my eyes peeled!!

Nener throw anything away!!
In 15 years, tops! You can get full price for packaging!!

It's true!! All those old Michael Jackson tour Pepsi cans, empty, will fetch enough to buy several cases of pepsi today!
The Christina Agulaira Big-Gulp cups will buy you a nachos, too!

A butterfly knife is like these if you are lucky, or these if you aren't. There's a lot of cheapies going around, but the older-cooler ones fetch a pretty shined penny.

I'm kind of with dobbs. The coincidence of a first post being basically to an auction item does not sit well on the karmic scale of quality. Laszlo, do you have any connection at all with the people advertizing this thing?

Is Antartica really the seventh wonder of the world?

Yea, sometimes... they have a bad rap cause of that.

Sorry to snag your post, Laszlo..

I have seen a lot of significance attributed to the #7.
Actually, every number.. I studied gematria for a bit, and it's a sure path to mathmatical insanity.

Especically when attributed to religous texts.

No, it is in fact a "bad rap" that they have:

"well I'm a butterfly knife and I'm here to say:
I get flung up in da movies in a major way!"

(bad beatboxing)

"I gots two handles and that's better than one!
Its knife spinnin fun for almost everyone!"

it also seems that many numbers have varying degrees of significants in dif cultures and religions etc. A number which has always interested me has been 11. Lots of people see 11:11 on digital clocks etc, which seems to have various spiritual and metaphysical significance.

Any casino that could be named the 8th wonder of the world would be in their best interest to buy it.

They aren't really the official 7 Wonders. Or is that so obvious I didn't need to mention it?

The first pic reminds me of this. The chaps involved got themselves into deep financial doodoo as a result. Hope the Ebay person has got the proper permits!

ebay eventually will be the only true economy. its already a way to determine that value of any random item: yeah, that's a cool (blank), but how much can you get for it on ebay?
