Following up on this post, the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA) will be holding its annual International Convention this week in Salt Lake City. The contest sessions and several other non-competition concerts will be broadcast live on the internet. There's a fee for the video feeds, but the audio feed is free!

The Association of International Champions Show and the Chorus and Quartet Finals on Saturday will truly be the best of the best, and IMHO well worth the cost to watch the video feeds.

I have been to several of these, and competed in two. There is truly some incredible music made at these conventions, and the sight of impromptu foursomes (and moresomes) woodshedding in random hotel lobbies is something to be beheld.

Sheesh. Dave Brubeck is heading up a jazz fest in SLC this week too... when it rains it pours.

I went to some contest sessions they held here back in the mid-to-late 90s. Good stuff.

Apparently there's a new link through which to access the streaming audio and video. The test files in the free audio feed sound like crap right now, but I understand they're still working on getting everything right.
