Ben Stiller is as funny as a dead christmas puppy

I Don't Like You In That Way is a celebrity mocking gossip blog written by the former head writer of TheSuperficial.com; very similar in style, layout & sense of humor. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but it frequently makes me laugh out loud.

"I know I keep saying the same thing, but there's no shame in losing a guy to Angelina Jolie. The deck is stacked against you, and that's okay sometimes. It would be like if an army of monkeys took on the regular army. No matter what cute tricks the monkey army can do, like riding a skateboard and clapping, the regular army can do that too. Plus they have enormous guns. And looking cute in a suit and fedora isn't gonna make you any less likely to explode when the bullets hit you. So Jennifer Aniston is exactly like an army of monkeys."

my favorite is http://www.pinkisthenewblog.com. The creater, Trent, never fails to make me laugh. He even gets celebrities dropping a note admiring his gossip commentary.

Its like Gawker but not funny.

Oh god why am I still up commeting on people commenting about the most vapid things in the world?

Also, is it just me or does Apple Martin's dress appear somewhat translucent in a this picture? Seems bizzare to dress a todler that way. Maybe I'm hallucinating from being so sleepy.

I have a secret love for this shit. So, thanks for the link. ... Except... I opened up [NSFW, I think] this picture of Charsima Carpenter and I don't think I'll ever be able to convince myself to close that tab now. Hot hot.

I was just staring at the new Nichole Ritchie thread on Superficial. It confirmed my feeling that celebrity worship is unhealthily linked with the ana and mia culture. The number of she looks healthy comments started turning the wheels in my head.

Yeah, the comments sections on either blog are a complete waste, like reading the fark.com comments, only even stupider.

I LOL'd at this tidbit from IDontLikeYouInThatWay, on Paris (the male's) troubles with Paris (the attention whore) and how he seems like the type of guy who would be complimented by a socialite's (courtesan's?) interest: "But being assassinated is kind of a compliment too if you really break it down."

Indeed!

mmmmm... charisma... holy @%$#&*!

I'd say something about kittens perishing here but that's some other blog's meme

I never thought I'd see I Don't Like You in That Way linked from Metafilter. This is really weird - believe it or not, my computer crashed again yesterday (which makes it the...oh...33rd time I think) and I was trying to replace my bookmarks, and I spent about 20 minutes trying to find this site. I kept typing in variations of I Don't Like You That Way (without the word in) and I Don't Like You Like That, and needless to say, I never found it. And here it is.

Welll that was a fascinating little look into my life, wasn't it? I get a kick out of these celeb blogs - they're mindless entertainment, to be sure, and vapid and trite, but sometimes funny, and they occasionally have very good photography, and great fashions. My main reason for reading: I like to see what people are wearing, especially their shoes. Here are a few more fashiony or celeby blogs I read (I'm just dragging them from my bookmark folder to this text field, so no hyperlinks for you) :

http://www.thebagblog.com/ (attn: mrs.pants the bag hag!)

I have to agree with jonson - I Don't Like You in That Way is probably the best-written celeb blog around - a nice balance of snark and well-thought out comments.

I think blogs like these are mean.

it's not real people tho, wash--they're celebrities! (and these are much much nicer than some--even when Pinkisthenewblog criticizes, he's cute about it. And most of these celebs really don't know how to even dress themselves, so it's criticizing their stylists more than them)

Weird. I'd been saying to a coworker that IDLYITW sounded just like TheSuperficial. Now you tell me TheSuperficial had a "head writer"-- for the purpose of what now? Is there that much $ in Google AdWords?

amber: I don't mean to be too censorious. I mean, its fun to look at, yes, and I spent read a lot of it. But so many celebs look so hunted here. And while it's true these folks would make into all sort of places that velvet ropes and large unpleasant men will forever bar me, I still feel a twinge of guilt viewing these pics, as if I'm stalking them myself in the market or whatever.

And I mean, sure, I'll make comments about people's clothes now and again, but I can't help thinking that preoccupying on it to this extent must somehow mess-up the people writing these-type blogs.

Apologies for my little spree of joy-killing, but there you have it, then.

yerfatma, I'm mostly curious about the backstory. Like, what was the relationship between TheSuperficial and brendon, the IDLYITW guy? He's taken recently to stealing his old TS posts and reprinting them in the new template. No mention on TS of him leaving, no clear reference to what the relationship was (employee? co-founder?) nor why he left anywhere on either site.

wash, it is intrusive, but it's not like they don't expect it--expecially if they're out at night (they should know by now that there are paparazzi and fans everywhere, and with cellphone cams, everyone's one now)

Gawker stalker might be better for you--just text, no pics. : >

jonson - First, I'd like to thank you for your link to us and I'm glad you like the site.

I couldn't help reply on this forum when I read the word "stealing" in your recent post in regard to our archives. Brendon was the head writer over at theSuperficial from February 2005 until July 2005. Everything Brendon wrote while at theSuperficial is his property. Hence the reason his archives are published on IDontLikeYouInThatWay.com.

While I (Jenny) choose not to go into lengthy details behind the split at this time, I did feel it was necessary to address some of your questions.

Again, thanks for visiting the site and your link to us here on MetaFilter.

All the best,

Jenny

My apologies, I didn't mean to imply malfeasance. I've been a regular reader of Brendon's writing for several months, I was just surprised to see stuff that originally appeared under TS's imprint show up elsewhere without mention of the original locale. No offense intended, honestly.

You were totally implying malfeasance. Fucker.
