This is where the fuel-related stories go, right?

If only 'oil terminals' had an abundant sorce of energy right there that they burn, or something.

You'd think that they would have their own generators, or something...

Not to mention that the criminal in this case drove an SUV and the victim was either Middle Eastern or South Asian.

Honestly, what the heck was your thought process when posting this AP story? Did you really think that the news was that amazing or full of importance?

Holy crap, if there's one thing I know would get George back at work (aside from a religious calling to save a braindead woman) it would be the stopping of the pumping of that sweet, sweet oil.

Thank goodness he can go back to ignoring the protest at his doorstep and get back to his models and coloring books.

Peak Oil is this summer's Shark Attacks

Brilliant.

I don't know much about world oil reserves. I'm not even necessarily arguing with their facts about how much the output from existing oil fields is going to decline, or that world demand for oil is increasing.

Methinks the comparison to shark attacks is not apt.

Unless he's grouping them together as "things I know very little about."

I generally like Steven Levitt, but I think he misses the point.

nothing fundamental has changed in the oil outlook in the last decade

Correct, but nothing has changed in our efforts to reduce oil consumption or plan for the day when there is less. There is a possibility of waiting too late and losing millions of lives in the process. Of course, that's OK b/c it's all part of the magical invisible hand.
