Crikey! Good catch, bonaldi. I got sloppy with all the details and forgot to warn those on dialup.

Wow. I can only wonder what these kids' parents thought of the whole thing... I love how it's all drums, piano and vibes. Just like Tortoise.

It's interesting. A bit talking dog, especially during the first drum break in Building, where you can't quite work out if it's being fluffed, or if the drummer's going as fast as humans can. hamfisted has it though: what did the audience think? Ha.

In a similar vein, Juno did a live version of High Noon, which I'd say is worth checking out, but, eh, it just sounds like High Noon :) Alarm Will Sound also did an entire album of Aphex Twin covers. Worth a listen.

Ahh. First thought was Alarm Will Sound. Even cooler with DJ Shadow is that they're performing already recorded performances that were mixed together -- it's metametamusic. Symphony orchestra here we come. (Or are we simply seeing the down side of the Switched on Bach revolution?).

Made me smile. Really is a shame that the drummer is such a disaster, though.

They were pretty good!

Really interesting idea. I agree with rxrfrx that it's too bad they didn't have better drummers. If they had done this with my high school band's percussion crew (Jenks, OK), it would've totally rocked, or better yet, the band from Booker T's drumline totally kicked ass.

The Bad Plus do a live instrumentation cover of Aphex that is pretty good.

The default black pants/white shirt performance outfit has never seemed less appropriate.

Great stuff. The arrangement of the main vibe part of "Building Steam" seems a bit off to me though - the last note in particular. But I often find, especially in sampled music, that I hear little things like that wrong. So maybe it's me that's off, even though if that's so, I've liked it better hearing it the "wrong" way for the past nine years.

Perception is a crazy thing.
