Some odd art links -

hand paintings by Guido Daniele that apparently are not photoshopped; 3D sidewalk art using clever long-distance perspective; and some cool art samples created by hand or mouth, from paralyzed folks of The Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists.

Hand paintings are interesting, sidewalk art a repost, and the foot and mouth paintings are crap.

I missed the sidewalk painter first time around, so I was glad to see this. And the hand paintings are very cool.

fire&wings: can you put a little more effort into it and think of a non-dickwad way of communicating your thoughts? Do you talk to people in real life like this?

The sidewalk paintings are way cool. Yes, I have seen similar pictures in email forwards, but still, incredible.

fire&wings: do you actually have the gall to call the art of physically handicapped people crap? or are you just trolling?

The Foot & Mouth thing reminds me of an HBO short documentary from a few years ago, King Gimp

Why must the art of extremeties-challenged people get a reflexive pass? The paintings pictured range from well-executed lush sentimental oils or pastels of flowered cottages, to giant crispy white roses on a distant plantary moonscape. Crap is in the I of the bee-holder.

Yep - I'd say most of those paintings by the disabled artists are, indeed, crap. It doesn't mean that they don't represent an amazing achievement by those who did the painting - it just means that I think the paintings themselves are pretty horrible.

I can just about pick up a pair of socks with my feet. So i'd say that foot and mouth art is a little more than crap

If a "reflexive pass" is not talking with your foot in your mouth, fire&wings and longsleeves, then I reckon it's a civilised reflex.

It's difficult to do, I'm sure. But a lot of the work on that site is, well, total crap.

(I have to review shows by disabled and mentally ill artists from time to time, and have been thanked on more than one occasion by artists I've slated becuase they're sick to death of patronising reviews that don't engage with their work. Obviously I've said rather more than 'total crap' on those occasions, but still...)
