Artist Tad Stones has started up the Hellboy Animated blog, which already has some great stuff up about character designs and style concepts for the in-production animated series based on Mike Mignola's comics.

Coool. I just recently started rereading all my HB trades/novels.

Very excited about this. If it works, it should be fabulous. If not, well, the books are still stellar.

I think if I were starting over new at meFi, I'd pick Lobster Johnson as a handle.

Holy flerking shnit! I didn't even know this was being produced! Love the comics, loathed the movie, and that image of HB on the blog makes me really rather optimisic about the animated incarnation...

I'm going to name my third rabbit Hellboy, after my current one, Robocop, and his future replacement, Lord Soth, have gone to the great clover-fields in the sky.

Oh, he's fine. He's taken to dryhumping his onetime girlfriend/companion bunny, Grendel, in the face when she pisses him off, but beyond that he's perfectly healthy.

The lead character designer is Sean "Cheeks" Galloway

Interesting, although I was hoping to see a 3d cell shaded Hellboy like this fan made movie from a few years ago.

Sweet! I had no idea, either...

Is there a distribution deal?

Very very cool. Hellboy is the only comic I still read; it's been consistently superb from the beginning. The movie was fun- nothing less, nothing more. Hopefully the animated series will be better.
