From the site:
Each day I spend 17 minutes standing outdoors next to a tree. At the end of this 17 minutes I fall to the earth. This ritual offers a place of reflection, the time between. It also deals with the specific circumstance of my own brother's suicide and as a reenactment aims to be reminder of the life I am engaged in.
Chris also invites people to come along and share the experience.

Not morbid. Interesting.

You're not wrong. I always like a bit of quiet, meditative live art (you see so much shrieky histrionics). The tree thing is just subtle enough a reference to hanging, as is the sudden fall to jumping.

Can definitely see myself watching this little ritual daily (the RSS feed is nice and podcasty). For a while, at least.

I feel ambivalent towards this. I consider it a good thing that he keeps his brother in his thoughts, but I doubt that it is healthy to re-enact this particular scene every day. How long ago did his brother die? I wonder what his parents think of this? His girlfriend (if he has one)?

One thing I feel for certain is that few things are more difficult to weather than the suicide of a family member. I am thankful that I have not had that particular experience, and I wish Mr. Barr the best in coming to terms with his brother's death.

His brother died about a year and a half ago, according to the blog.

I can't get any of the videos to load, but I'm sure they look very nice, just based on the screenshots.

But yes, I don't know how healthy it is to re-enact the suicide every day. If he's finding some comfort or tranquility in it for now, good, but I hope he finds another coping mechanism before long.
