Woophy stands for WOrld Of PHotographY, a website founded by a Dutch collective of photo aficionados and internet designers who believe navigation on internet can be more visual, logical and associative. The goal of Woophy's founders is to create an accessible, visual, current, democratic and collective work of art comprised of a database picturing our remarkable world.

From Woophy some comments and explanations on your remarks about Woophy

First our name, we know it is maybe not the most logic name. But hey, try and find a two (or one) syllable domain name these days. The name is short and people talk (complain) about it so we think it is a good name and a nice url www.woophy.com

Second the remark about the map being unusable. We tried to integrate in our map all the zoom methods used in other map applications and dtp software like photoshop, coreldraw and even autocad. So you can zoom by using the scroll wheel, pull a window, click on a + icon etc. If you still have problems we would be glad to use your comment en critique in our further development.

Third the sarcastic remark about Flash and being accessible. For access to our application you need: a. a computer b. electricity c. internet access d. a unix, apple or windows system e. recent versions of firefox, safari, explorer etc. f. the ordinary Flash plug-in which comes with your browser.
So, true our choice for Flash excludes some users but to be honest much more user are excluded by the other requirements mentioned here.

And the last two remarks are difficult for me to react on because they are not specific.

Our aim was just to provide a nice online photographic map of the world in collaboration with photographers world wide. Our visitors really seem to appreciate this judging by there comments on the site and their rapidly increasing numbers.

Hope this explanation helps to see our initiative in the right perspective.

Thank you and see you at www.woophy.com
