I got in!!! Remember that link to Quintessentially a few weeks back? Well, after countless hours of anxious waiting, I finally received my acceptance letter (the complete text of which is inside). At last, I can enjoy the finer things in life - it'll only cost me $600 a year .

I was so happy, I almost cried:

Dear Esquire Gershwin,

I am delighted to inform you that your application to
join us at Quintessentially has been successful. You
are now just minutes away from becoming a member.

At the end of this email you will find your temporary
user name and password. You can use these to log on
to the members' area at www.quintessentially.com. You
will then be asked to check the registration form,
filling in any blanks and making any changes that may be
necessary.

I look forward to welcoming you to Quintessentially.
If you have any questions our assistance centre is
there for you 24 hours a day on 08000 156 996.

Your temporary user name and password are;

user name: schiller
password : june

Your annual membership will be £400.

Best wishes,
Ben Elliot

Quintessentially Membership Secretary

I'm tempted to raise the money for membership - it might be interesting to muck around with things from the inside . . . perhaps we could create a MetaFilter account that all of us could use to 'cause problems'.

Not for nothing, Aladfar, but are you sure you want to be showing off that userid and password around like that? You've my congradulations, but I'd make a request to have the letter removed or altered.

Hmm.. better be carefull. the login/pass works, displays all the info, I didn't do anything, it asks to submit application.

What's the big freaking deal? So it is a members-only store or am I missing something?

Um, the information presented when you type in the username and password is entirely false - do with it what you will.

Don't think for a second that I'd give out any personal information to all you MeFi folks - the last thing I need is for strangers going through my trash . . .

Dear Esquire Gershwin...

Classic!

And also bollocks, since Esquire has never been used as a title in that manner. (The form is: Joe Bloggs, Esq.)
