The Art of Chris Turnham. Vivid, highly-stylized illustrations. The first four 2D images are part of a series that depict scenes from Decemberists songs.

Oh, those are just lovely and wonderful. I didn't think anyone could compete with Carson Ellis!

They're wonderful. That's how I would like to draw if I could. I especially love this one.

He's been posting these over on the Decemberists message board as he finishes them. He's got a wonderful way of illustrating the action and character of a song. Legionnaire's Lament was the first one he posted, and probably my favorite. I do have to say that I prefer these to the "community theater" photos from the insert booklet, humorous though those were.

And if anyone was unsure, The Bandit Queen is a Picaresque B-side, and quite a nice one, too.

i can't wait for the animated movie he's doing (See under 3D, "Abilgail Frett & The Fifty Foot Threat"), very cool work. Thanks for the link, ludwig!
