recalls the Tollund Man and Bogland of Seamus Heaney (realaudio 8P).

those links have spiff readings, too. unfortunately, another great poem of his, Digging, isn't on the site with sound.

the peat bogs are preservative, and he explores them well. had he known about this link, tho, he might've titled his poem "Dapper Dan Man."

Clonycavan man quaffed up his hair using an early hair gel

QUAFFED? Can I fire the National Geographic editor?

Eh, it's the National Geographic, not the Smithsonian.

Besides, maybe he choked to death attempting to drink some kind of brewed hair-based beverage.

How disturbing, hattifattener. I knew that my insistence on only buying expensive Japanese soy sauce was justified.

Aha!
Thank you for contacting the National Geographic Society.

I reported the misspelling to our News department, and they've corrected it.

Big guy, little guy, big guy enjoying 'civilization' and little guy obviously appreciated the better things in life?
