Thank goodness the celebrity class and a luxry class isn't disappearing. What would us common folk do with out role models. How would we dream or aspire to be anything more!

Why don't guidance counselors in high school ever tell you that D-list celebrity is a lucrative career path? I think it's a disservice to our youth.

Was this "officially" released to the media, or just leaked? 'Cause if not...well, I make my own music at home and with my friends, and we enjoy it and are enthusiastic about it and bob our heads up and down in time to it, regardless of whether anyone else would think it was any good. And I'd be embarassed if a video like this was leaked to the media and wound up on teh internets for everyone to take potshots at.

The OAH article (link #4) asks whether celebrity culture contributes to Baudrillard's "culture of simulacra". By that token is this post but a simulacra of the best of the web?

Wasn't he a dancer for Britney Spears before they got together? Not much evidence of his "skillz" here.

I am confused by the post... I do not know who this fellow is and am unwilling to google him 'cause I just don't care about that aspect. Ok, he is a minor celeb, enjoying some crappy music.... aaaand? Don't think this says much about celeberty-in-general. The supporting news articles where minorly interesting I suppose.
So the video is either lame becasue, 1) We can all be lame when we are unscripted (lameness of who ever decided to share with the world), or 2) this was vaguely scripted and intentional and is a waste of video time and effort (lameness of celeberty and whoever produced it).

And to think I decided not to post a link to the gawker live blog of the taping of the Oprah Winfrey/James Frey shindig today in which Oprah gets out the knives and calls Frey a liar.

How about a Not Safe for Anyone tag? I knew better after checking the URL but many people would not know the horrors that await them on the other side of that link.

This loser's 15 minutes ended years ago. Let's just let him sink back into the slime now, okay?

That was one of the worst videos I have ever seen online, and that says a hell of a lot.

This post was a Brazillian ass-shaker right here.

She did? Hot damn...good for her, even if it was late in coming.

Dude. Go to the freaking grocery store. Stand in line. Look at the pictures on the magazines. You don't know who Kevin Federline is, but you also don't think this says much about celebrity in general. Well, then maybe you don't really have much to say about celebrity? Or was this like one of those, "Oh, I wouldn't know what you're talking about because I don't have a TV...yawn..."
posted by billysumday at 9:47 AM on January 26, 2006

Who is this Kevin Federline? Is this something you need to be trash to know about?

KIDDING.

What did she see him him, I ask you. I haven't picked up the latest drugstore rag to find out who he cheated on her with, but I can't say I wasn't sorely tempted. What a loser.

oh noes I have be slammed because I don't know who a minor celebrity is. yawn deux.

I do have a tv but have more important things to do then become too involved with it, I will have to bow to your superior knowledge in this area.

i was not trying to make a point about "not knowing this person so I am better then anyone", but rather "because I don't know this person here is my viewpoint from an unbiased perspective".

The only magazine worth looking at in the grocery store is the weekly world news, upon occasion that is comedy gold

so if this is ass-shaking music, why does he move his head so much?

oh ... never mind

Meh, the song's no worse than the rest of the dreck in that genre. I don't get the K-Fed hate; being a no-talent scumball isn't an anomaly in the music/entertainment industry, it's a prerequisite. He knocked up Brit, it's not like he broke up The Beatles.

googling kevin's cock size.
(go ahead press it, you know you want to)

phaedon, actually no, no I do not want to. But thanks anyway.

He looks so happy and oblivious in that video... as if his soul were not crushed by getting rejected from every record label and being forced to release his steaming pile o' popozao independently.

Oprah brings out the knives

Personally? I think the only way we're gonna get Kevin's album to sell is if Oprah recommends it.
posted by mowglisambo at 10:50 AM on January 26, 2006

There were a couple of photo flashes in the middle of the video - why would anyone want to make a soundless snapshot of this cultural milestone when someone else was capturing the full audio, head noddy experience?
posted by simcd at 11:00 AM on January 26, 2006

Why would he make a "Brazillian ass shaker"

I don't think he's neither Brazilian, nor a shaker, though he may be an ass.

Saint Doprah, Patron Saint of Righteous Outrage.

Love the "holding back the tears". She's tough but she feels.

I wonder how many focus/legal/p.r. meetings had to be held before Her Doughiness decided that maybe a principled defense of this shitbag wasn't such a good idea?

Next month in Oprah's Book Club: Clifford Irving's riveting autobiography of Howard Hughes.

I have to question the title of the video, "Kevin Federline jamming to PopoZao". In musicians terms, doesn't "jamming" imply that someone is adding music to the performance in some way (as in, a jam session where people are invited to join musicians, etc.)

Somehow I don't think making little excited "yow" noises and adjusting the volume of the recording every so often constitutes adding something to the music.

But I could be wrong. I used to think chanting rhymed lines with no tune was cheerleading, not singing, but rap proved me wrong. Apparently.

well K-Fed isn't much of a musician, is he?

There's many an idiot far worse than him.
