Sure, we're all aware that William Shatner is the man, but this guy takes it to new heights (Google Video) in the mockumentary Auto Destruct: One Man's Obsession With William Shatner. Our disturbing yet engaging subject engages in rock and roll (Google Video, again,) shenanigans and goes into detail about a traumatic childhood experience involving a monkey.

Of course, for those who want their Shatner undiluted and pop-tastic, there's always his version of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (again, Google video,) now featuring cameos from across the pop-culture spectrum.

Disclaimer: I'm used for a pull quote on the first two links, and they misspelled frisson.

Man. What little I could stand to skim of that mockumentary was just plain lousy.

I'm sorry, this guy doesn't hold up. I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

William Shatner's "Rocket Man" is the Rosetta Stone of comedy.

I love the LSD video. Love it.
By the way, re: LSD.

I thought Bob was the definition of dork, but then I saw the Pirate and the Klingons, and realized that those folks are the genesis of the phrase "get a life".
Consideration for my life led me to cut short the, um, viewing experience.

I'm going to go ahead and admit to watching the entire thing.

It was actually pretty funny.

I dare say my wife and I were debating the fakery of this until the very end.

There was anything to debate?

Some funny moments, and nicely directed. Feels like a real documentary at times. I'd be interested in knowing how the project went together.

I was quite confused at first, but it turned out that I'd experienced some network congestion right at the point of the car accident. Once I got that sorted out the Tappiness of it all became rather more clear.

There was plenty that just built on real life, though -- those Klingons were pretty authentic, or this had an unrealistic costume budget.
