While certain things (the phone log) are a bit creepy, I would love to have realtime monitoring of gas water and electricity usage.

What the hell is he doing with all the electricity around midnight?

and if you are a thief, he will let you know when the house alarm is off.

Wow. I wouldn't want that information public, but I would quite like my house rigged up so that I could control/monitor some of the stuff he is. I've only got as far as vaguely looking into motion sensors so that I can have radios in every room that turn on when I walk through the doors, and that's only because I'm so lazy that flicking the on/off button gets tedious when I nip from the office to the kitchen to make a cuppa.

This, from the 'How' page, is a bit creepy: The interest for controlling everything with a computer grew stronger and stronger, and what would be a better object then controlling your home. (your wife?)

I totally know when he took a shower, and I feel I'm a better person for it.

It's not creepy as this seems to be a big pet project. It is, however extremely nerdy.

It's only creepy if the govt. is doing it.

I find the fact that toilet usage jumped 50% on Sunday over any time before or since to be...revealing. Of what, I don't know. But still.

This seems to be a popular pastime for the Dutch. There was this other couple who wired most of their home to the web for many years. The site is gone now but it lives on in the Internet Archive (which can reveal that they were eager toilet flushers - 22308 times in five years).

Heating? Our night storage heaters come on at night when the electricity rate is lower; our water tank heats up at the same time.
