it's 8:07 am GMT on December 25 here and now.
I hope you have a happy Christmas. It's a hell of a time to be sad.

Peace and love from Paris and a link to make this thread legal. [Warning: contains slight and cheesy swf file.]

It's a quarter to 1 in the morning P.S.T. in beautiful downtown Oakland, Calif., and I wish holiday cheer -- post-Ramadan, pre-Kwanzaa, fifth day of Hanukkah, Christmas Day, pre-Boxing Day (have I got that right?) and so on -- to all y'all MeFi-ers.

9:30pm, Xmas day, I'm stuffed and exhausted and have been sneezing all day...

Here's something to read on Christmas :)

Vehicle has posted exactly one time to Metafilter, and that was it, and it's a self-link.

Vehicle: We're on to you.

NOTE: vehicle has about 3-4 psuedonyms [vehicle, historical, jpl] at this point and has been trolling for click-through's the past few days. we should all ignore this asshole. keep an eye out for links like, "That's funny! For more funny stuff, click here!", etc. In another thread someone actually had the nerve to defend him, not realizing the insidiousness going on.

back to the thread, i hope everyone (even vehicle) has a great Christmas.

That's why nowadays I try to go by the same name all the time. I mean it just goes to show. Admittedly I've done some obnoxious things in my time and I ain't proud of every single word I've put up on the 'Net but I'm proud of the fact that I stand behind what I've said for good and bad. In the early days years and years ago I played with pseudonyms cuz at the time it seemed fashionable and looked like fun. That got old real fast and for better or for worse I just stick with Zach Garland now. I mean I don't hide or nuthin.

And I've been accused of being a troll more times than I care to count. Actually I'm just painfully opinionated and have a big mouth. People tend to mistake me for a troll because trolls are ...usually painfully opinionated and have a big mouth. *shrug* But my point, and I do have one, is that anonymity on the 'Net is an illusion. And it's also a waste of time. If you can't stand behind what you say online or offline just shut the heck up.

And uh... Merry Christmas. =) Happy New Year too. Even for the trolls.

...personally I'd prefer being compared to an elf...
posted by ZachsMind at 11:31 AM on December 25, 2000

Trust me, Zach: as someone whose height qualifies him for leadership in the Lollipop Guild, you wouldn't want to be compared to an elf. This time of year, you walk into shoe stores, and they ask "something with a nice point?" while trying not to laugh.

Merry Christmas to all, too, from Minnesota: it's snowing big soft flakes, and it's a bracing 2 above.

Merry Christmas,

Happy Hannukah,

Merry Kwaanza,

Happy Superbowl.

Whichever holiday your religion may compel you to observe.

Could someone explain to me what it is/people do about pictures that in NS4.7, if I have JS turned on, photos hang over their postings and I can't read them?

Happy Boxing Day!

I enjoy this for so many reasons. Hope the holidays are being enjoyed by all. Flash required
Baylink: I have the same problem when people post pictures here, but I have no mentioned it because I don't want to give people reason to trash NS. I am curious if there is a fix, as it is the only time I launch explorer is if I cannot read a post on Metafilter.

If you use the align attribute in the img tag, Netscape has no problems with the image. I'm guessing it's a CSS issue.
