The Aural Times - We Sing the News So You Don't Have To [from the talented mind of Josh Millard, a.k.a. cortex.]
Actually, Homer Eagles Will Be Beggars No More might be my favorite. Can't decide.

I was expecting video with costumes and dancing girls and jazz hands. Bah.

Hey! Awesome! God I hope the server doesn't melt.
cillit bang: there has been a terrible jazz-hands shortage lately which has delayed the launch of the dancing-girls routines. My apologies.

This just makes me miss Ambrosia Sings the News that Air America Radio used to do.

Brilliant! I can't imagine how much time this must suck up. I bet if I didn't spend so much time reading Metafilter, I might be able to come up with something as tenth as cool.

cute, but different stories should be in different styles of music...like metal for the South Dakota story, and bhangra or Bollywood for Bush's trip...

ewagoner: so far it's been about 3-5 hours of work per issue, depending mostly on the song -- the rest of the content goes pretty quickly.
amberglow: I might get more directly thematic as time passes, but right now I've been just sort of madly getting my legs and trying different things in general. Once I stop discovering new miniature workflow catastrophes every single issue, I'll have a little more room to stretch my legs, as it were.

Yes, but drunken hookers prefer to hear their news from The Aural Times. Vicious cycle; you can't escape.

I just stumbled on this post thanks to the relevent MetaTalk thread. Cortex, you are now up there with Jonathon Coulton on my list of Favorite Internet-Based Musicians.
