What, no Bush?

Thanks, I'll be here all week.

Since when is Chavez a dictator?

I second Artw.

Probably because after you read a few, you find out that the author is obsessed with Edwardian-era slander: all of these dictators apparently had an STD that affected their brain.

All I got out of reading this crap was that if I want to be a successful communist leader, I should get syphillis because THEY ALL had it.

from the site:
Similar to Castro, Chávez is seen as a darling to the left wing, especially left wing media in the United States.

*blinks*

I love the fact that people think we have a "left-wing" media in the U.S. As if Wolf Blitzer was calling us out into the streets to shoot the rich or something.

He's not stupid enough to just say it on CNN. Wolf tells me telepathically.

For a man named Wolf Blitzer he's kind of disapointingly undynamic. he should be punching people in the face and stuff.

I really dislike Chavez, but he is no dictator. Enver Hoxha has always been my favorite because he was maniacal about enforcing atheism and he built pyramids all over Albania.

I like this line from the Saddam Hussein entry:

"After much political jockeying between the USA and Saddam Hussein regarding weapons of mass destruction over the following years the die was cast once and for all after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centrwe, which led to the expulsion of the Taliban from Afghanistan."

Wha?

papakwanz: Note that technically it did not say that Saddam is related to 9-11. Sounds familiar!

I like the idea of this site, but gadzooks, some authorial intervention in the narrative with Chavez and Saddam.
I donno. Laurent Kablia seems like a choice for this. Seemed like a good natured guy. For a dictator.
>For a man named Wolf Blitzer...
I like that!

OTOH, from one of the articles...

"In The Soldier and the State, Huntington summarizes fascism as follows:

* Glorifies struggle
* Hails the State as the ultimate source of morality
* Romanticizes war and violence
* Worships power as an end in itself
* Emphasizes the supreme power of the leader
* Advocates a dynamic, aggressive, revolutionary policy to promote conflict
* Believes in the total subordination of social institutions to the State"

Wolfie's one of theirs.

I certainly don't like Chavez -- people who monkey with constitutions to give themselves extra terms in office aren't really democratic poster boys, and neither are people who are chummy with the likes of Castro. But even I wouldn't call him a dictator. He's not as bad as Lukashenko, for instance, who runs a police state in all but name. He and Bush are really quite alike in so many ways, they deserve each other.

Rimmer: That's Nuremberg! That's Adolf Hitler. He was leader of the runners-up in World War II.
Kryten: I cut the photograph out of one of your magazines.
Rimmer: Which magazine was that?
Kryten: Fascist Dictator Monthly. He was Mr. October.
Lister, to the crowd: Ignore him! He's a complete and total nutter! And he's only got one testicle!

Well this list is just silly. They're missing Saparmurat Niyazov! I believe his last decree was that Turkomen appearing on tv couldn't wear makeup because it obscured the national character of their skintone.
I mean, I'm not sure he's done all that much of the indiscriminate killing, but as far as "batshit insane dictator" goes, he's got it more than covered.

Oh. Never. Freaking. Mind. There he is. I'll go have some coffee now. But in all seriousness, he's much more fun than any of those other guys.
