The little coffee plant that almost died. A fascinating and inspiring radio piece detailing the story of the wild coffee plant, "cafe marron," that almost disappeared from the one island where it grew, Rodrigues, in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

I listened to this yesterday on All Things Considered, its a fun, if odd little story.

Nice post, billysumday. Eventually, we might come to understand such "connectivity".

Man, we had the cutest little volunteer hibiscus (and nearby seedlings) in a broken sidewalk on our rental property. I tried three summers in a row to transplant it without success, but it thrived as much as it could in the cracked concrete. Then we got tenants with a dog and it promptly died. I kept hoping for a miracle like this.
