May Day Revisited

Mission Accomplished? Then why is there even more outrage? Last year, celebration and theatre dominated the day.. This year it's different. This is also the 120th anniversary of the Haymarket Riots resulting in four anarchists being hanged. Interestingly enough, the riots happened because of workers rights being unfair. Is this a case of history repeating itself?

I like it that the broken link at "different" takes me to Microsoft.com. Brilliant!

I think in both eras, this is a day about standing up for what is needed in society. I mean, why are we needing to still do this after 120 years? Progress indeed. I want to live to see this country respecting others, not making others conform to our values. I heard a snippet of a radio call in program last night, and this woman was saying how immigrants should "have the courtesy" to learn English. *sigh* There are 81 languages spoken here in Minneapolis and some people gives no apparent darn about 80 of them..

For those in Minneapolis, the Heart of the Beast Parade is on May 7th at 1 PM starting at 26th and Bloomington and proceeds to Powderhorn Park. Tree of Life ceremony to follow. Happy May Day!!
