hmmm ... that kind of reminds me of the hawaiian slack key trick of dangling a needle from a thread in one's mouth and letting it hit the strings ... different sound

Thing is, it's not really a trick. What separates this from gimmicky things like playing behind your back or whatever is that this is totally useful - it's like he has three hands. He can play rhythm and lead at the same time. What a beautiful song, too.
